2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S lands in Malaysia, from RM2.2m

Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), the official distributor of Porsche cars in Malaysia, has launched the latest 911 Turbo S priced from RM2,235,463 within the SST exemption period.

Powered by a new 3.8-litre boxer engine with a pair of variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers that produces 650hp and 800Nm, the 911 Turbo S sits at the top of the 992-generation 911 hierarchy.

The motorsport-oriented 911 GT3 and GT3 RS may be more precise tools for the track and can offer more spirited drives, the 911 Turbo S is the more capable all-rounder sports car that you can live on a daily basis.

The flat-six engine bolted behind the rear axle is paired to an eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch gearbox and an all-wheel drive system, allowing the Turbo S to leap to 100kph from standing still in just 2.7 seconds (with Launch Control).

Even more impressive is that 200kph can be reached in a mere 8.9 seconds, a full one second quicker than the previous 991-gen Turbo S.

Top speed remains unchanged at 330kph.

"The Porsche Turbo designation is synonymous with outstanding performance, even when it was first introduced," says Christopher Hunter, chief executive officer of SDAP.

"This is even more so with the new 911 Turbo S. While it performs at the level of a super car, the daily driveabilty remains outstanding.

"It is this flexibility to react to different situations that makes the 911 Turbo S a personal favourite of mine. Combining unprecedented power, driving dynamics and comfort with efficiency builds a bridge from tradition to innovation with this new generation."

In terms of dimensions, the new Porsche 911 Turbo S features 42mm wider track at the front, and 10mm additional width at the rear.

For the first time, the 911 Turbo S wears a staggered wheel size; 20-inch up front with 255/35 and 21-inch at the rear with a fat 315/30 tyres.

Adaptive aero is one of the key features for the modern age 911 Turbo and with the 992-generation, the car is now fitted with Porsche Active Aerodynamic (PAA).

What it does is resolve the age-old aerodynamic dilemma – the contradiction between a low drag coefficient for maximum speed and low consumption, and high downforce for better driving dynamics.

So, the car basically adapts its aerodynamic configuration precisely to the driving situation, speed and selected driving mode.

This is achieved by the active cooling flaps, together with the variable front spoiler lip as well as the larger retractable rear wing which delivers 15 per cent more downforce.

Also newly available is the Wet mode which first made its way with the then-new 911 Carrera S in 2019.

When engaged, the Wet mode will alter all driving parameters for greater stability and safety on wet road surfaces.

It will also deploy an airbrake in the event of full braking at high speed using the rear wing.

New to the engine are a redesigned cooling system, larger turbochargers, and the use of piezo injectors to increase responsiveness, power, torque, emissions and revving ability.

To govern all the performance and capability, the 911 Turbo S comes with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive and the new generation Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a sportier tune.

Exterior features include Turbo-specific wider air intakes, LED matrix headlights with dark inserts, and rectangular tailpipes in high-gloss Black.

As for the cabin, the 911 Turbo is equipped with a full leather interior, carbon trim in Light Silver accents, 18-way adjustable sports seats, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is 10.9-inches, GT sports steering wheel, Sport Chrono package with Porsche Track Precision app and BOSE Surround sound system.
