This is the most downloaded app this Ramadan

KUALA LUMPUR: Islamic app Muslim Pro Malaysia has reached a new height, becoming the most downloaded app on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store during the start of Ramadan.

With more than 70 million downloads from over 200 countries, the mobile application receives a very high spike in activities from downloads to usage during this holy month, not only in Malaysia but also on a global scale as more users log in to check Sahur and Iftar times, read the Quran and utilise the other religious features.

Ranking number one means Muslim Pro also overtakes global tech giants such as Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram. The mobile application is still seeing tremendous growth in the number of downloads each day and hopes to end the fasting month with a new record high.

Muslim Pro opened its local office in Malaysia last year with the mission to further strengthen the brand and market presence in the country as Malaysia accounts for about a tenth of its overall user base.

It also plans to strengthen the features of the app which include the revamp of Quran and Halal food places directory as well as the launch of a new content section that features original and curated Islamic lifestyle related articles and videos.

“These additions will compliment our core features of Waktu Solat, Quran and the Qiblat to complete the experience for users who use the app during Ramadan,” says Muslim Pro Malaysia country manager Nik Emir Din.

Muslim Pro Malaysia has partnered with major brands such as Boost, Shopee, Zurich Malaysia and Sen Heng throughout Ramadan to offer users special promotional prices for its Premium subscriptions via both online and offline channels.

In the spirit of Aidilfitri, Muslim Pro is also partnering with Poplook, a local modest fashion brand to offer users exclusive additional discounts when shopping for Poplook’s Raya collection.

Other interesting initiatives include a content partnership with Digital Durian, the creator of preschool hit Omar & Hana where users can watch the animated series via the Muslim Pro app to ensure a safe and secure viewing experience especially for children.

And together with Destinasi TV and popular Youtube vlogger, Rhys Williams, Muslim Pro Malaysia is working on an 18-episode vlog series entitled ‘Kembara Ramadan Rhys’ where he as a non-Muslim documents his experience and journey of fasting throughout the month while using the mobile application.
