KUALA LUMPUR: Xiaomi today announced Redmi Note 9S, a new mid-range smartphone, during a global online stream launch.
The phone features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset, which consists of an octa-core CPU with a 2.3GHz maximum clock speed, Adreno 618 GPU and 8nm process technology.
To further enhance user experience, it comes with a big 5020mAh battery for a longer usage and supports 18W fast charging which comes with a 22.5W in-box charger.
Touting a notch-free design, the Redmi Note 9S sports a unique square-shaped camera layout and side-mounted fingerprint sensor that doubles as a power button for fast, convenient unlocking.
With a 6.67-inch n FHD+ DotDisplay, the 9S is Redmi Note’s first phone with in-display front camera with symmetrical design, giving a 91 per cent screen-to-body ratio for a more immersive experience.
Besides that, the display on the 9S is TÜV Rheinland low blue light certified, which ensures eye comfort after long-hour use.
The phone is also hardened with splash-proof nano coating and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back.
In terms of imaging, the Redmi Note 9S features a quad camera setup with a 48MP main lens and a large half inch sensor which can give ultra-high-resolution photos. Its 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, meanwhile, lets users capture large group images with ease, while its 5MP macro lens and 2MP depth sensor round up the setup for sharp and beautiful images.
On the front, Redmi Note 9S sports a 16MP lens in-display selfie camera, allowing the 9S to have minimum bezels without compromising the camera quality.
Xiaomi’s country manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Nicholas Shi, said the Redmi Note series is the company’s most popular smartphone series. “It illustrates our philosophy of innovation perfectly with its amazing performance and pricing,” he says.
The Redmi Note 9S (4GB + 64GB) variant will be available in Malaysia starting from March 27, 2020 at RM799 while the 6GB + 128GB variant is priced at RM899 and is available for online purchase from April 1, 2020. The phone comes in three colours - Grey, Aurora Blue and Glacier White.
And in conjunction with Lazada’s 8th Birthday Sale promotion on the same day, the Redmi Note 9S (4GB+64GB) variant will be available for a special price of RM699 during the flash sales which will be from 12am to 2am.
