#TECH: New Pgeon store programme helps boost MSME earnings

KUALA LUMPUR: Pgeon, a last mile delivery service, recently introduced Pgeon store, a programme designed to offer enterprising Malaysians a new and low barrier to entry opportunity to grow their business by turning their business premises into points for parcel drop offs and pickups.

By becoming a Pgeon store agent, MSMEs, SMEs and solo entrepreneurs alike will be able to expand eCommerce growth whilst simultaneously building exposure for their brands both online and offline by tapping into the millions of Malaysians that currently use last mile delivery solutions.

Through this initiative Pgeon is targeting to onboard 1,000 new agents by year end, at the same time helping them tap into the global last-mile delivery market.

Speaking on the Pgeon store solution, Pgeon founder and chief executive officer, Clarence Leong said that the pandemic has affected many businesses and the Pgeon store programme is providing an additional source of income for these enterprises.

"Many local businesses and individuals have suffered financially because of the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing restrictions. This pushed people into finding ways to earn multiple streams of incomes just to stay afloat. Even as more restrictions get lifted and the economy recovers, a multi-stream revenue model is a necessity in the new normal. Our Pgeon store programme looks to provide just that for businesses and entrepreneurs - a secure additional source of income that comes with minimal investment and a big upside," he said.

The Pgeon store programme offers four tiers of partnership that cater to different needs and capacities of respective SMEs and entrepreneurs and interested parties can become a Pgeon store agent for as little as RM 1,000 starting capital.

"With the Pgeon store programme, we wanted to provide a highly accessible and flexible programme that would allow businesses and entrepreneurs from all levels to tap into this profitable segment. This is why we've made the barrier to entry low and provided several tiers - with just a mobile phone and as little as RM1,000 they can get started." added Leong.

The Pgeon store programme also looks to assist agents by increasing footfall within their stores which in turn could boost performance of their primary business.

The programme also aimed at making parcel drop offs easier than ever for a growing number of individuals and businesses that utilise last mile delivery services.

"We wanted the programme not only to act as a means of additional income but to further benefit these agents by converting their premises into drop off points that will encourage consumers to visit their physical stores.

"On top of this, through the programme we will highlight their premise on digital platforms - enabling them to gain marketing exposure both online and offline," he added.
