TODAY is especially special to Malaysians as we celebrate the formation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963. The jubilee is not only celebrated among Malaysians, but it is observed by many who have called this nation home.
Canon, a name synonymous with imaging technology, also didn't miss the opportunity to commemorate the 59th anniversary of Malaysia with videos showcasing the beauty of Malaysia—the people, culture, as well as Malaysia, the country.
"Driven by Canon's Kyosei philosophy, we believe in working with local communities for the common good.
"In commemoration of Malaysia Day, Canon is honoured to partner with Top 100 Legend and Film Edge in celebrating the founding of Malaysia and the nation's progress through artistic expression," said Canon Marketing Malaysia's director of imaging communications business division, Hunter Zhang at an exclusive viewing event.
Titled Negaraku: Teguh Bersama, Canon collaborates with Top 100 Legend to produce a short movie, a CinePhotography – a term coined by the director, Yiewin Kang. The movie follows three students in search of their missing Malaysia flag; and along their journey, they learn new skills and culture from different races.
By mixing two mediums, incorporating a combination of video footage and still photographs, the movie successfully displays Malaysia's unique mixed multiculturalism, diversity and unity.
The Negaraku: Teguh Bersama was shot fully on Canon EOS R5C in 8K raw, Canon's first 8K mirrorless hybrid camera—both its still and motion picture system in one body.
According to Zhang, Canon is delighted to support the two productions with their cameras in the Cinema EOS series.
The second video, AirPixel 8K Kuala Lumpur Drone Film, Negaraku was filmed back in 2021, showcasing Kuala Lumpur through various drone aerial shots captured in 8K resolution during the trying time as Malaysians brace the effect of the pandemic.
The video has since received various acknowledgements including from the Malaysia Book of Records for the First True 8K Drone Aerial Video In Malaysia and South-East Asia.
"We are determined to help create a thriving future for the Malaysian videography community by supporting and cultivating cultural improvement through local videography projects. Our cutting-edge technology allows both current and future generations the ability to expand Malaysia's filming industry and explore various videographic expressions," added Zhang.
