KUALA LUMPUR: Once again, Apple has unveiled its latest range of iPhones and as usual Malaysians happily went to the major shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur to get their pre-ordered iPhone 15s from Apple authorised dealers today.
One of the malls is One Utama Shopping Centre in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.
Malaysians, who had pre-ordered their iPhone 15s, made their way to the concourse of One Utama's new wing this morning where leading Apple dealer Machines and its helpful staff readily gave them the phones that they have ordered.
Die-hard fans
Among the iPhone buyers who arrived as early as 7.30am was Luculus Lee, 28, of Kuala Lumpur. He was excited to get hold of his brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max worth RM6,499.
"The price of this phone may be up by RM200, but it is a state-of-the-art phone worth every sen. I love it that it has a much sharper camera than usual, and it is the first iPhone model to adopt the USB-C standardised charging method," he said, adding that it was the fifth time he purchased a handphone.
Another KL resident, Adrian Lim, 25, said that he came as early as 8am to collect his iPhone 15 Pro Max which he had ordered two weeks earlier.
"It is my fourth iPhone and I always believe that things will get better each year. The iPhone 15 Pro Max costs me RM6,499, but it has a superb camera and screen, where visibility is extra clear and extra sharp," he said.
Meanwhile, Raymond Yeo, 25, of Kuala Lumpur was overjoyed to get hold of his new iPhone 15 worth RM4,399.
"It may be expensive, but nothing great comes cheap. Apple has given the phone camera a brilliant upgrade, and best of all the phone is not as heavy as its predecessors, just what I like," said Yeo, who came as early as 8am to collect his fifth phone.
Meanwhile, Shivaruban Sivanadyan, 51, of Kuala Lumpur said that he loved the iPhone 15 Pro Max he ordered worth RM7,499 as it had the best of cameras and superior features compared to its predecessors.
"This is my second iPhone, I used to have an iPhone 7 Plus, and what I like about iPhone 15 Pro Max is its USB-C, which enables me to instantly charge my phone. I am not much of a photographer, but the iPhone camera is the best of the best," said Shivaruban who arrived at 8.30am.
Adzrul Fuad, 31, of Shah Alam, also collected an iPhone 15 Pro Max which he ordered two weeks prior.
"This is my second iPhone and it has a really good camera. Expensive it may be, but what I look for is its quality, and I'm ready to pay RM7,499 for it," he said.
Bigger crowd
Machines' head of marketing Grace Quah said that most of the customers queued up at the ground floor of One Utama as early as 7.30am and by 9am, 50 people turned up.
"The crowd remains bigger than ever, and their main priority is the quality of the iPhone. By lunchtime, 1pm, we expect 150 to 200 customers," she said, adding that they had a similar crowd at Sunway Pyramid last year.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 on Sept 13 at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park, the United States.
iPhone 15 has four models namely iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
One big upgrade is the usage of aerospace-grade titanium, which gives these phones strong yet lightweight bodies.
The Pro models have new camera upgrades with the equivalent of seven pro lenses, and a more advanced 48MP Main camera system that supports the new super-high-resolution 24MP default.
There is also a 5x Telephoto camera, exclusively for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 Pro starts at RM5,499, available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage capacities.
