#TECH: Apple previews first official store at TRX

APPLE has previewed its first-ever retail location in Malaysia, Apple The Exchange TRX, situated in the bustling Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) central business district of Kuala Lumpur.

Apple said the store, which will be open to the public on June 22, will bring full Apple experience to Malaysians, offering a comprehensive range of products and services, support from a team of over 160 employees, and engaging sessions with local creatives.

"We live for moments when we can surprise and delight our customers, and we're excited to do that in Malaysia with the opening of our first store in the country, Apple The Exchange TRX," said Apple's senior vice president of retail, Deirdre O'Brien.

"Being able to support and directly connect with a new community is always a special experience for our retail teams, and we can't wait to welcome customers to this beautiful space designed for discovery, creativity, and shopping for the world's most innovative products," she said.

Store design

The store's architecture reflects Apple's commitment to innovation and sustainability.

It connects the mall's central atrium to a lush rooftop park, featuring a unique three-dimensional layered roof that reduces sun exposure and a central glazed oculus that illuminates the interior with natural light.

Inside, a sculptural quartz and glass staircase links the store's three levels, creating an inviting space for exploration and learning.

Apple said the store operates on 100 per cent renewable energy and is carbon neutral. Its design incorporates high-quality materials such as natural stone walls, polished stainless-steel columns, light terrazzo floors, and a timber ceiling, enhancing the shopping experience with a refined aesthetic.

For innovation and creativity

Apple said what set the store apart from the premium resellers is that it will serve as an inspiring hub for education and creativity.

For example, the free Today at Apple sessions led by Apple Creatives will help users learn to maximise their devices' potential, with topics ranging from basic tutorials to advanced iPhone photography and video production.

To celebrate its grand opening, a special Today at Apple series titled "Jom Discover" will run from June 22 to July 6. This series will feature renowned Malaysian creators and provide insights into their creative processes while showcasing Apple's product capabilities. Featured sessions include performances by De Fam, photography workshops with Jason smashpop, video editing tutorials with Adam Lobo, and more.
