Monopoly got dUCk-ed

Local lifestyle brand dUCk became the first Malaysian brand to have its own Monopoly board game, following a collaboration with toy giant Hasbro, which will also see a slew of other products including shawl and scarf (but of course!), tote bag and keychain.

Last weekend, to celebrate the collaboration— that's looking like the brand's biggest project this year— D, the narrator of the brand, shipped out boxes of the popular board game all over the world to its customers, friends, influencers and Press members.

Hijab stylist Didiyana Ehsan, a long-time dUCk collaborator, hosted an Instagram Live with former Jelita editor Anida Salwani Abdul Hadi, where they unveiled the new board game to a host of viewers.

Bowerhaus founder Elizabeth Lee Yong did a beautiful video on the new set and dUCk founder Vivy Yusof, who is expecting her fourth child, was noticeably emotional in the video she recorded about the collaboration.

Born in 2014, dUCk is, after all, one of her babies.

LOCAL'S FIRST

"Thinking about this collaboration gives me the butterflies," says the brand's creative chief officer.

"dUCk is the first Malaysian brand-- and the first modest fashion brand in the world-- to partner with Hasbro on its Monopoly series. This is not just a nod to diversity, but a meaningful representation for the hijabi community," she says.

"The combination of endless discovery of travelling, chasing ambitions and most importantly, cherishing the warmth of family and friends makes Monopoly x dUCk an inspiration in following your dreams," she says.

Hasbro South Asia general manager Bhavesh Somaya says the premium Monopoly x dUCk collection of scarves and fashion accessories celebrates the spirit of the iconic game and can be enjoyed by fans of all ages.

NEW TURF

In the game, players kickstart and go on an adventure as students, to land their first jobs, explore the world through travel, and live their best lives with family and friends.

It comes in premium packaging and includes six dUCk tokens-- a coffee cup, a camera, a travel jet, a dUCk lipstick, a dUCk shopping bag and lastly, a cute little duck.

Players get to collect signature dUCk boxes and turn them into dUCk towers in place of houses and hotels.

The collection drops tomorrow night at 10pm on getducked.com and FashionValet. A complete set (RM550) comes with the scarf, shopping bag, keychain and of course, the Monopoly x dUCk board game. Individual items are priced at RM250 for the scarf, RM150 (board game as add-on with any purchase from the collection) and RM75 (shopping bag).
