#LIFESTYLE: Disney launches Asia Pacific e-commerce store

If you can't come to Disney, then let Disney come to you.

Last month, The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia launched its flagship Asia Pacific e-commerce store called shopDisney, which delivers to Malaysia and stocks products including collectibles, adult fashion and accessories, home, stationery, gifts, toys and baby.

Mickey Mouse: The Main Attraction limited edition series is a popular choice, alongside the cool Disney x Coach collection, as well as a contemporary and stylish homeware catalogue inspired by classic characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse.

The Walt Disney Company's Southeast Asia, India and Middle East and North Africa vice-president and general manager of consumer products Dan Dossa says the company has always been driven by consumer centricity.

"Digital retailing allows us to bring our distinct 'Disney magic' closer to consumers with a simple and convenient one-stop shop access to highly anticipated global collections that are unique."

He says catering direct to its fans within the region also helps the company to curate services and products that are different and localised. At the same time, it ensures that the company constantly learns and enhances experiences across all its franchises.

"shopDisney represents the latest extension of not only our retail offerings in Southeast Asia, but of Disney's storytelling as a whole. We're extending the magic beyond the screen, connecting fans in Singapore and Malaysia to their favourite characters in new ways, and bringing these unforgettable stories closer to them," he says.

Dossa says storytelling is at the heart of Disney and "we strive to bring to life our stories and characters, beyond the screen, in a connected, inclusive and evolving way".

"The key idea behind shopDisney is a dedicated space that creates happiness by providing the best in products, inspired by beloved characters and stories, for people of all ages, everywhere. It's not just merchandise, but memories that will last a lifetime."

shopDisney also carries exclusive Disney Parks products, including its Spirit Jerseys, Loungefly Backpacks and Ear Headbands. Its home and living category includes Winnie the Pooh Cookie Jar and Kitchen Canister Set, and Mickey Homestead Collection. Bed and bath accessories will join the line-up soon.

There are desk and office gear featuring Mickey Mouse and Marvel characters and limited edition dolls such as the Mickey and Minnie Doll Set, Ultimate Princess Celebration and Disney Designer Collection featuring Aurora, Moana, Merida and the latest Snow White.

It will also stock other exclusive ranges designed by The Disney Store Japan, including the Sakura series, as well as stylish new takes on classic characters like Donald Duck and Goofy.

"Shoppers will find products that are exclusive to Disney Stores and Parks, which have never been available to fans in this market. We believe the launch of shopDisney in the region will delight long-time fans as we provide varied incremental shopping opportunities via a wide array of elevated product assortment that focuses on limited editions, collectibles and gifting ideas," Dossa says.
