COSMIC Cookware, the brand that's making waves among the young, is only a year old. But it's still strongly holding on to its philosophy of bringing quality and aesthetic designs to Malaysian kitchens.
The brand started with the humble mission to create cookware for happy, healthy families. It wanted to replace the clunky, lacklustre pots and pans in the everyday kitchen with good quality pieces that look lively and charming.
Brand manager Trixha Wu says Cosmic Cookware wants to deliver products that are safe, stylish and seamless to use.
"We hope to be the perfect kitchen companion for cooks, who value utensils that are made to last and easy to clean. In other words, we want to be there to help them to easily prepare nutritious food for the family."
Unlike most cookware, the company has designed its products to cover all aspects of cooking and aesthetics.
"From matching kitchenware colours to using Swiss-certified material — we've worked to ensure that cooking is a delightful experience from the stove to the sink (and beyond)," she says.
FOCUS ON HAPPINESS
Wu says the brand is all about creating a delightful cooking experience.
"We want to make kitchen moments easier with our non-stick, non-toxic materials — and also be the reason for every cook to get excited whenever they fire up their stove."
She says most people are not aware that some non-stick pots and pans are made using chemicals that may be hazardous to health and the environment.
"Our cookware is made using a natural ceramic compound that's free of harmful chemicals or toxins, even when they are exposed to extreme heat," she says.
During the design process, the company ensures that products are free of the so-called "forever chemicals", aesthetically designed and effortless to use.
The cookware is manufactured free of Teflon, PFOA, cadmium and lead. Each cookware is also coated with Swiss-certified ILAG ceramic coating that's non-toxic and non-stick.
BEST-SELLING PAN
The Cosmo Pan is the brand's best-seller, says Wu.
"It's a great cooking all-rounder that's made for frying, boiling and even baking in the oven!
"But after some insight and learning from our customers, we've expanded that success into our Cosmo Fry and Cosmo Casserole. Both are part of our current favourite — the five-piece Cosmo set."
The Cosmo Casserole looks like an industrial stock pot, but with a broader base and shorter walls, making it suitable for home cooks.
It also comes with two short handles on either side for balanced and steady transferring.
Designed for low and slow cooking, it's perfect for making soup, stew and baking. It is oven-safe for up to 230°C — the perfect vessel for baking bread.
You can also enjoy making a roast with it, as it is big enough to fit a whole chicken or pot roast.
Weighing just 800g and 24cm in size, the Cosmo Fry is practical and convenient to use.
It has an ergonomic stainless steel handle for a sturdy grip, and its high-side curved walls are intentionally designed to keep all ingredients in the pan while frying.
You can also whip Sunday breakfasts and Friday night steaks with less oil, thanks to its non-stick surface.
ENCOURAGING COOKING
By making cooking pleasurable, Cosmic Cookware hopes to encourage more families to cook and eat at home, which is a healthier option.
"Since some people consider cooking to be a chore, we thought our products should be easy to use, clean and to look good for anyone that's between 'learning to cook' and 'cooking all my life'," says Wu.
The brand's community, the Cosmic Cooking Club, is testament to this.
"We can see that cooking spark from our community of home cooks who frequently share their dishes and recipes.
"It's great to see them connecting through our products. And in the long run, we hope to inculcate home cooking among a bigger community.
"This will encourage eating at home and hopefully, with conscious choices, people will prepare healthier meals for themselves and their families," she says.
