KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Ummi Nazeera has announced Aug 3 as the date of her marriage solemnisation to her fiancé, a physician whom she has only referred to as “Dr Izzar.”
She made the announcement at 3pm today through a live update on her Instagram account.
The actress, whose full name is Ummi Nazeera Nur Hidayah Zainul Abidin said: “It will be a closed event, to be attended by family members. Wedding reception on my side will be held on two different dates, Aug 5 and Aug 12. Wedding invitations will be sent out in June.”
The 26-year-old artiste rose to fame after starring in the hit TV drama series Nur Kasih, aired on TV3 in 2011. She played a supporting role alongside Remy Ishak, Tiz Zaqyah and Fizz Fairuz.
Ummi and Dr Izzar were engaged last Dec. At the time, her fiancé was only revealed to her fans as “Mr I” and the photograph of the two had been edited in such a way that one could not tell what her future husband looked like.
But on Tuesday, Ummi posted another photo on her Instagram account – this one taken on their engagement day – and said that the announcement of her solemnisation and wedding would be made today.
It was reported earlier that the couple had kept their engagement ceremony a simple and intimate affair, with about 100 guests, comprising family members.
Ummi was quoted as saying: “It was never our intention to keep it a secret. (But) it was a request by both his family and mine that it be a low-key event.”
It is learnt that the couple met in person for the first time only after exchanging WhatsApp messages for more than a month. They didn’t even speak on the telephone prior to that.
Their first meeting took place in the presence of Ummi’s mother, Datuk Seri Maziah Musa.
