Mus of May in induced coma following seizure

ROCK singer Mustaffa Din, or Mus, of the group May, has been hospitalised since Monday after suffering an epileptic seizure at his home in Kuala Lumpur.

The 49-year-old rocker’s niece, Anita Wafa Syed Munir, said doctors at Kuala Lumpur Hospital had placed him in an induced coma on admission on Monday.

“While his condition was initially critical, it has since stabilised.

“Doctors placed him in the intensive care unit and have performed a magnetic resonace imaging (MRI) procedure,” she told the New Straits Times yesterday.

Mus formed May in Ipoh, Perak, in 1986 with his friends Man Saarip Yaakob (drummer), Abu Nassier Yusof (guitarist) and Yus Mokhtar Madin (bassist). They have released 15 albums to date.

The band’s best known songs include Derita Bangsa, Bayangan Hidup; and Sendiri, which
entered the finals of the Anugerah Juara Lagu 1989.

Mus participated in the fourth season of TV3’s reality talent show, Mentor, and picked Ayim Napsun of Sabah as his protege.
