KUALA LUMPUR: The lead cast of the much talked-about movie 'Baby Driver', Ansel Elgort and Lily James, together with director Edgar Wright are in town for the local premiere of the thrilling car-chase film.
Ahead of the movie’s red carpet premiere to be held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur shopping mall around 5pm today, the trio turned up for a press conference at The Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur.
Elgort, known for his character Gus Waters from the 2014 movie 'The Fault In Our Stars', arrived on our shores early yesterday where he took the opportunity to visit Batu Caves temple and the Chin Swee Caves temple in Genting Highlands.
He even shared photos of his adventures to his 8.1 million followers on Instagram, garnering the attention of his Malaysian fans.
When met, the 23-year-old actor also dished out about his first attempt at eating the durian.
“I thoroughly enjoyed devouring the durian. I also tried the jackfruit and loved that too. I really love Malaysia,” he said with a smile.
As for James, 28, and Wright, 43, who only arrived in the capital late last night, they have yet to explore the city.
“We’re excited to be here in Malaysia and are open for suggestions from the locals on where to go and what we should do!”, said Wright.
All three will be in Kuala Lumpur till tomorrow.
'Baby Driver' centres on a young, talented, partially-impaired hearing getaway driver, Baby (Elgort) whose job is propelled by his own unique musical playlist.
The plot follows Baby who is coerced into working for a group of thieves masterminded by Doc (Kevin Spacey). Forced to take part in a heist that’s doomed to fail, being involved in the crime eventually threatens his life and his girlfriend, Debora (James).
Also in the star-studded cast are Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm and Eiza Gonzalez.
'Baby Driver' is Wright’s sixth feature film. The English lad previously directed movies such as Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz.
'Baby Driver' will be showing in cinemas on Thursday.
