Docu on Japanese band X Japan to screen at GSC

KUALA LUMPUR: Calling all fans of X Japan! A documentary film on the Japanese heavy metal band will be screened at GSC Mid Valley this weekend at 4pm.

Titled We Are X, the 95-minute production chronicles the band’s exhilarating and tumultuous history over the past three decades throughout which the five members had persevered through personal, physical and spiritual challenges.

Under the enigmatic direction of co-founder, drummer, pianist, composer and producer Yoshiki, X Japan has sold over 30 million singles and albums combined, since its formation in 1982.

Having pioneered a performance-driven style of visual rock and creating a unique cultural phenomenon, it has gained a wide range of admirers including The Beatles producer Sir George Martin, American rock band KISS as well as comic book author Stan Lee.

Directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Stephen Kijak (Stones In Exile, Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of), We Are X is an intimate portrait of a virtuoso and the music that has enthralled legions of the world’s most devoted fans.

It culminates with the band’s preparations for their momentous reunion concert at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden, held in October 2014.

Tickets to We Are X are priced at RM28. Each ticket purchased comes with a movie poster that can be collected on the screening day, while stocks last.
