(Showbiz) Twice sets new record for first week album sales by a K-Pop girl group

KUALA LUMPUR: Recently voted South Korea’s most popular idol group for this year, Twice, has broken yet another one of its own records.

With its latest album Twicetagram, it achieved the highest number of physical albums sold by a girl group within the first week of release on Hanteo charts.

According to a news report by Soompi, 122,926 copies of the album were sold in the first week since its release on Oct 30.

This number beat Twice’s own record of 114,000 copies for its mini album Signal, released last May, as well as its previous record of 113,000 units for its EP TWICEcoaster: Lane 2, released last February.

Meanwhile, Twice also set the record as the fastest K-Pop girl group to reach 40 million YouTube views for its latest single Likey’s music video.

The song is also placed first on the weekly charts of five domestic streaming sites on November 6.

Twice, comprising members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu, made its debut in 2015 under JYP Entertainment.

Its other popular singles include TT, Cheer Up, Knock Knock and Like Ooh Ahh.
