After conquering India, BoboiBoy to be featured in China next year

KUALA LUMPUR: Monsta (formerly known as Animonsta Studios) has achieved another milestone, with its hit animated 3D series ‘BoBoiBoy’, to be featured in China next year.

The local company inked an exclusive acquisition deal with China’s Tencent Video, a dominant video streaming platform with over 457 million monthly active users.

Monsta also partnered with digital media entertainment company WebTVAsia to manage its distribution and localisation of the animated series in China.

All three seasons of the ‘BoBoiBoy’ TV series and the feature film ‘BoBoiBoy The Movie’ will be fully dubbed into the mainland Mandarin language to attract more audiences.

Monsta chief executive officer Nizam Abdul Razak said it has always been a dream to export not only their content but also the Malaysian culture to the world.

“Now this dream is a reality as millions of viewers from across the world are enjoying our animated shows with our Malaysian identity,” he told a press conference in Bangsar South, here yesterday.

Nizam said Monsta has also partnered with Disney Channel India to feature the ‘BoBoiBoy’ series and film to the Indian sub-continent countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Seychelles and Sri Lanka.

The collaboration began in August with ‘BoBoiBoy’ being aired in four languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telegu and English.

Present were Malaysia Digital Corporation (MDEC) chief executive officer Datuk Yasmin Mahmood, WebTVAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Fred Chong and WebTVAsia Group (China) Chief Executive Officer Lee Hua Ling.
