(Showbiz) Rozita Che Wan to record her first single next month

KUALA LUMPUR: Rozita Che Wan may be known as an actress and a host, but soon she is set to add singer to her resume.

The businesswoman and mother-of-three plans to record her first single - a collaboration with singer-songwriter Hazami next month.

Rozita or Che Ta as she is more fondly known, feels a bit nervous but she is confident working with the award-winning artiste who is known to guide new singers well.

"Actually, Hazami invited me to record his newest composition with him. He is not the first musician to invite me. Previously, Eddie Hamid and Imran Ajmain did the same, but I didn't feel confident back then," she said in an interview with BH Online.

Rozita admitted she was a fan of Hazami's music, and enjoyed his composition Takdir, the theme song of the drama series Syurga Yang Kedua performed by award-winning singer Dayang Nurfaizah.

“If I had a choice I’d love to sing ballads or Irama Malaysia songs. As a newcomer I’m prepared to be criticised, because that’s the only way I can improve,” said Che Ta.

Hazami, who recently composed songs for Gegar Vaganza winners Azharina Azhar and Aishah, said Rozita had sought his help to compose jingles for her health and beauty product advertisements.

“While we were discussing this I also suggested that she sing one of my songs. Previously, I’ve watched a video of her in action, and it was recorded by a mutual friend. She’s got a good voice and Irama Malaysia suits her.”

Hazami also suggested that Rozita’s husband, Oh My English! actor Zain Saidin come on board to provide some hip-hop music to their new single.
