BTS nominated for Nickelodeon music award

K-POP group BTS made history last year as the first South Korean boy band to perform at the American Music Awards.

The seven-member group has gained more recognition in the United States by recently being nominated for the Favourite Global Music Star category at the upcoming Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

In a media report by Soompi, BTS would be up against Taylor Swift, who is representing North America, Black Coffee (Africa), Lorde (Australia/New Zealand), Maluma (South America), The Vamps (United Kingdom) and Zara Larsson (Europe).

The Favourite Global Music Star category was launched for the first time last year with fellow K-Pop group BIGBANG as one of the nominees. This year, BTS has been chosen to represent Asia.

Fans can begin voting for the Favourite Global Music Star category on March 5, and the awards ceremony will be held on March 24 at The Forum in California.

The 90-minute-long annual awards show, which has been organised since 1988, honours the year’s biggest television, movie and music acts as voted by Nickelodeon viewers.
