#Showbiz: 'Our daughter became the subject of cyber-bully'

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular celebrity couple Awal Ashaari and Scha Alyahya did not think twice when approached to join in the End Cyber-Bullying And False Information campaign.

For them, they feel the need to share their experiences having to deal with cyber-bullies.

“I remember when our daughter Lara Alana became the subject of cyber-bully. I took the initiative to find out from MCMC on my rights in protecting my family,” recounted Awal, 36.

“I try not get emotional when reading negative comments about my child. But as a parent, sometimes it does get to you,” revealed the protective father of the three-year-old.

Scha, 34, said: “We hope that with through this campaign, more people would realise that cyber-bullying has a become a huge issue plaguing our society now.”

Supported by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, this awareness campaign is aimed at educating members of the public on the right to protect themselves against cyber-bullying and fake news.

“This campaign involves all of us,” he said of the campaign which is the brainchild of celebrity-cum-entrepreneur Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor.

Other celebrities involved in creating a public service announcement to address cyber bullying and fake news include Datuk Hans Isaac, Adibah Noor, Joe Flizzow and Caprice.
