#Showbiz: 'One Two Jaga' bags top prize at 30th Malaysian Film Festival

PUTRAJAYA: Crossroads - One Two Jaga, the dark crime story involving dirty cops, won Best Film at the 30th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM 30) last night.

Its director Namron received Best Director award and its lead actor Dr Rosdeen Suboh took home Best Actor award for his layered role as a desperate policeman in the film.

One Two Jaga also bagged Best Original Story and Best Screenplay awards.

Meanwhile, Guang, a moving drama about an autistic young man with a hidden talent, also won multiple awards for Most Promising Director (Quek Shio Chuan), Most Promising Actor (Kyo Chen), Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction.

Datin Seri Umie Aida who played a deadly femme fatale in the horror thriller Dukun took home Best Actress award.

For Best Child Actor award, the trophy went to Jake Eng who played the young titular hero in Rise Of The Legend: Lee Chong Wei.

Hasnul Rahmat won Best Supporting Actor award for Polis Evo 2 while Nabila Huda Suhaimi received Best Supporting Actress award for Makrifat Cinta.

Paskal The Movie, Vedigundu Pasangge and Busker were presented with the Special Jury Awards.

AR Badul became the recipient of Lifetime Achievement award, while renowned lyricist Habsah Hassan won the Behind The Scenes award.

A total of 42 films – 25 in Malay, eight in Mandarin, two in Cantonese and seven in Tamil – competed for the 24 categories.

FFM 30 took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here at 9pm and was beamed live on Astro Ria which is also the official broadcaster.

About 3,000 people attended the 150-minute awards show which was hosted by popular TV host-comedian Nabil Ahmad and singer-actress Adibah Noor.

The award presenters included Datuk Afdlin Shauki, Datin Diana Danielle, Fazura, Jason Chong, U-Wei Hani Saari and Sangeeta Krishnasamy.

Entertainment for the evening came from Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Jaclyn Victor, Innuendo, Syamel and Ernie Zakri.

The event, organised by the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (Finas), was attended by Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Eddin Syazlee Shith, Communications and Multimedia Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) Shakib Ahmad Shakir, Finas Chairman Datuk Samsuni Mohd Nor and Finas CEO Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri.
