KUALA LUMPUR: Taiwanese actress Shu Qi recently had a brief, but unpleasant "trip".
The 43-year-old superstar, who was the guest of honour at the Shanghai International Film Festival last Tuesday, took a tumble when she was walking up the main stage, to the surprise of everyone around her.
Entertainment portals Toggle and QQ.com reported that Shu Qi was wearing 7.6 centimetre-high heels when she apparently slipped on the wet steps leading up to the stage.
It was raining, and two men held umbrellas for her, while another helped her navigate the slippery steps.
But as soon as stepped on the stage, she fell forward. Security guards and the event host scrambled to help her, and she slowly made her way to the centre of the stage.
A video of her fall subsequently made its rounds in cyberspace, and showed that she fell flat on the ground. Many Netizens expressed concern, and wondered if she was hurt.
Fortunately, Shu Qi was cheery throughout the festival, and said that she was “not bad”. She eventually took off her heels before making her way off stage.
The actress later said on Weibo, "Grateful for your care, have a great day", hinting that she was all right.
Shu Qi, whose real name is Lin Li-Hui is based on Hong Kong and began her acting career in 1995. Her best known films include Young And Dangerous: The Prequel (1998), So Close (2002), The Transporter (2002), Seoul Raiders (2005) and The Village Of No Return (2017).
