KUALA LUMPUR: Following the recent tragic death of Sulli, a former member of K-Pop girl group f(x), the song Peach has reentered the Korean charts.
According to Soompi, the song by fellow K-Pop artiste IU, which is from her 2012 album The Spring Of Twenty, was written for Sulli.
At the time of its release, IU had said: “I wrote the lyrics about Sulli from the point of view of a man.”
Sulli had also talked about the song during an appearance on MBC’s Radio Star a year after its release.
She said: “IU and I hosted a music show together, and she had told me that she would be writing a song for me. My fans call me Peach, so when her new song came out, I called to ask her about it, and she confirmed that the song was for me.”
She added: “The lyrics were all compliments, and things that IU would tell me whenever she saw me.”
IU later penned her song Red Queen for Sulli as well.
Meanwhile, Sulli’s sudden death yesterday which shocked fans of the 25-year-old singer and actress, was also reflected by the Korean entertainment industry where her peers have shared posts mourning her passing.
Soompi also reported that many events and releases have now been cancelled or postponed as a sign of respect.
K-Pop group Super Junior, which was supposed to have dropped its music video for the title track Super Clap from its new album Time Slip late yesterday, had pushed it back to Oct 17 instead.
Singer, rapper and former f(x) member, Amber Liu, had also taken to social media with a post that read: “Due to recent events I’ll be putting on hold my upcoming activities. Sorry everyone.”
SuperM’s recording for its special show SuperM: The Beginning yesterday in Seoul at the SBS Public Hall was canceled as well.
BTOB’s Hyunsik, who made a solo debut yesterday cancelled a V Live broadcast scheduled for today.
Actress Kim Yoo Jung also cancelled a photo call event with Laneige today, while the appearance of Nu’est members Aron and Baekho on Jam Live had been moved back to Oct 18.
Many other artistes including Kang Daniel, Iz*One, WJSN, Ab6ix, Seventeen and SF9’s Youngbin had cancelled their various events in light of the unfortunate incident.
