#Showbiz: Katy Perry dons the big bow by Malaysian fashion designer

KUALA LUMPUR: Yet another Malaysian has made a name for himself as a fashion designer to Hollywood's big stars.

American pop singer Katy Perry was recently spotted wearing a stylish, golden dress created by Malaysian fashion designer Khoon Hooi.

The Roar singer wore the eye-catching dress while attending the Jingle Ball 2019 organised by radio station 101.3 KDWB at Xcel Energy Centre in Minneapolis on Monday.

The attire which she proudly showed off on the red carpet, was part of Khoon Hooi's 2020 Floral Collection. Besides its vibrant yellow colour, it is distinguished by a huge ribbon in the centre.

Besides Perry, an outfit created by Khoon Hooi also made its way into American actress Camila Morrone’s wardrobe. The beautiful mint green dress is part of the designer’s Autumn 2019 Collection, and she wore it to the Marrakech International Film Festival 2019 in Morocco last week.

The Asia's Next Top Model host Cindy Bishop has been known to wear dresses designed by Khoon Hooi.

Khoon Hooi, who founded his own fashion label of the same name in 1999, graduated from the Malaysian Institute Of Art in 1993. He has been honoured for his work with a string of awards including the Harper’s Bazaar Style Award, Malaysia International Fashion Award, Mercedes-Benz Stylo Fashion Forward Award, the International Recognition Award of the Bangkok International Fashion Week and Elle Magazine's 2017 Malaysian Designer Of The Year and Red Carpet Designer Of The Year.
