#Showbiz: 'I'd love to have children but now's not the time' - Alyah

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Datin Alyah Abu Hassan has been married to reality show judge and music director Datuk Ramli M S for seven years now, but their "juniors" have yet to arrive.

Alyah said that they had always wanted children, but it would require her to undergo in vitro fertilisation (IVF) first.

In addition, the 39-year-old Johorean will need to "slow down" her singing activities for a year prior to treatment.

"As a wife, I'd love to have children but what man proposes, God disposes.

"My work schedule is pretty packed at the moment, so now's not the time for children. I've got to find the right time to undergo IVF, and this also requires me to take a year's rest," she said in a news report today.

"If all goes well, I'll undergo treatment next year. I'm still busy, but I'm beginning to slow down with my singing activities."

Alyah and Ramli, 61, tied the knot in Indonesia on March 18, 2013. He has two children from a previous marriage.

Alyah who has been singing since she was 17, became Asia Bagus runner-up in 1998. She subsequently participated in Bintang HMI (2000) and One In A Million Season 1 (2006).

She released her first studio album Destinasi in 2001, and this was followed by Permata (2003) and Alyah (2008). Her third album produced by Ajai contained the hit songs Tak Mungkin Kerana Sayang and Ku Pinjamkan Satu Bintang.

Ramli was the principal of reality talent show Akademi Fantasia for two seasons in 2004 and 2008, and is currently the chief judge of Gegar Vaganza.
