KUALA LUMPUR: Netflix will be releasing a new anime series based on the successful multiplayer online battle arena video game Dota 2 by Valve, on March 25.
Titled Dota: Dragon's Blood, the eight-episode series will chronicle the adventures of Davion, a conflicted yet courageous Dragon Knight who must use the power of the dragon within to stop a deadly demon.
Fans will also get to see more of the characters from the popular online game franchise brought to life in the new series.
In a press release, Dota: Dragon's Blood's executive producer Ashley Edward Miller said that fans would enjoy the new epic fantasy series immensely.
"Fans will love how we've imagined the Dota 2 universe and woven together an epic, emotional, and adult-oriented story about some of their favourite characters.
"The cinematic animation, acting and music are simply next level and I'm grateful to Valve for supporting our creative ambitions," he said.
Miller had previously worked on major Hollywood films including X-Men: First Class and Thor.
Netflix has also recently released a teaser on the upcoming anime series on its official YouTube channel.
A recent tweet on the official Dota 2 Twitter account read: "We're excited to announce a brand-new anime series exploring the Dota universe like never before. As fellow fans of Dota and its passionate global community, we look forward to sharing this new adventure with you when it premieres on Netflix March 25."
