#Showbiz: Idris Khan against cash reward for excellent SPM 2020 students

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Idris Khan believes the act of rewarding excellent SPM 2020 candidates with cash may end up leaving those who did not do well feeling worthless.

The 32-year-old artiste shared his opinion in a recent Insta-story, adding that: "This could push them (those who did not do well) into feeling down and depressed, especially when the media picked up and highlighted the news item (of fellow artistes being generous with the scorers)."

Instead, he said we should celebrate the efforts all students had put in in the national exam.

Idris also shared that many SPM 2020 students had messaged him on Instagram expressing their disappointment towards their results.

"My answer to them was not to give up and to work harder in future as SPM is not the be-all and end-all. This is only the beginning of the next stage of their lives.

"Life is more than just straight A's in your SPM. Let's be real, our examination is very much focused on the ability to memorise. Those who can memorise well, they score."
