KUALA LUMPUR: Former National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac has chosen to quit showbiz, as he does not see a bright future as an actor, producer or director.
The 50-year-old star of films as Ringgit Kasorrga, Hanya Kawan, Laila Isabella, Cuci, Buli and Los Dan Faun said that it was "time to move on" and focus on other business ventures instead.
"I don't see a future for myself in this industry anymore. Consequently I have lost interest in acting, producing as well as directing," said Hans in a news report today.
"The entertainment industry is controlled by a few, and that is one major reason why I've chosen to leave it."
Hans, who began his acting career in 1995, said that not every filmmaker or artiste had a good life, especially after he or she had retired.
"Only a small number of us do well, the rest will still struggle in life," he said.
"Unlike other industries where there are good incentives for the retired, the creative industry doesn't have them. Out of 1,000 people only 50 get to retire comfortably.
"Consequently, there is no point pursuing something that doesn't reward you well after you're past your prime."
Hans served as Finas chairman from April 2019 to May 2020.
