#Showbiz: TV9 unveils Islamic animated series 'Little Ammar', 'Mina Mila'

KUALA LUMPUR: Two new animated children's series with adorable characters are set to win the hearts of young viewers on TV9.

The Islamic-themed Little Ammar and Mina Mila are the latest locally-produced cartoons on TV9's popular Jaguh Kartun slot from 5pm to 7pm.

The three-minute Little Ammar, screened every Wednesday and Thursday at 6.30pm since Feb 2, tells the story of inquisitive pre-teen Ammar and his pet rabbit Rapbit.

Both of them share their daily observations of life with young viewers, as well as catchy songs with spiritual themes.

The seven-minute Mina Mila will debut on TV9 on March 28, and will be screened every Monday and Tuesday at 6.30pm.

It tells the story of twin sisters Mina and Mila who are also Ammar's elder siblings.

The sisters have different personalities, but work closely together to educate viewers aged five to nine in the basics of religious obligations and school assignments.

TV9 chief operating officer Sherina Nordin said that both animated series were joint ventures between the station and animation company Durioo.

"The characters and their environments come in bright colours, specially to uplift the spirits of young viewers.

"Their messages are simple, and youngsters get to learn new things in a joyous and informal manner with their new animated friends," she said in a news report today.

Sherina added that animated series played a key role in stimulating young viewers' interest in the world around them.

Durioo chief executive officer Sinan Ismail said that both animated series gave "feel good" vibes to young viewers, and the characters served as virtual friends who interacted well with them.

"They are very Malaysian kids, whom pre-teen viewers can easily relate to. Best of all, they encourage fans to be optimistic at all times."
