KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd (MPB), Malaysia's leading and largest integrated media group, is set to usher in the Year of the Rabbit next year with great shows through its premiere Chinese channel 8TV.
"8TV has been the No.1 Chinese TV channel for more than 10 years.
"And now with the recent launch of our cross-border cooperation with China, we are excited to bring more fresh and exciting content to audiences everywhere.
"This coming lunar new year we will celebrate with more thrilling family content in the spirit of spreading love and happiness among the community," said MPB group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid during the launch of the CNY 2023 campaign #LoveYouTu at Westin KL here tonight.
Some of the shows revealed were made up of a variety of programmes from family dramas to variety shows, which included Mission Homecoming, My Future Sons-In-Law, CNY Fun Together, As You Wish and Good Luck Together 2023.
In conjunction with Chinese New Year which falls on Jan 22, 8TV will be collaborating with radio channel 8FM, video portal Tonton and TV shopping channel WOWSHOP, as well as online portals Rojaklah, Viralcham and Tantannews (TTN) to raise the spirits for a better year.
Also present at the event were MPB group managing director Rafiq Razali, MPB deputy group managing director and Omnia chief executive officer Datuk Michael Chan and 8TV chief operating officer Kevin Foo.
The launch event, that was also attended by representatives from the campaign's sponsors such as AEON, Ensure Gold, Nivea, foodpanda, Ginvera, Carnation, Jasmine, Kinohimitsu, Meta Academy, Popular Book Store, OXWHITE and Durio, was broadcast live on 8TV and live streamed via Tonton.
Aside from showcasing the exciting TV lineup, MPB also launched a CNY album in line with the #LoveYouTu theme, introduced the cute CNY 2023 rabbit mascot, exclusive merchandise and 24 CNY Buddies 2023 made up of popular TV personalities, radio announcers and celebrities.
Those introduced were Owen Yap, Ong Ching Yee, Rickman Chia, Orange Tan, Tan Ley Teng, Natalie Ng, Ash Lu, Jan Chin, Desmond Tey, Royce Tan, Angeline Ooi, Hana Teo and Tan Chia Yong.
Others include Emerson Liang, X.Long Ngoi, Charlotte Seow, Emily Chua, Choo Yee Jie, Houson Ng, Bryan Matthew, Victoria Ng, Minsley Chin, Loh Chen Yuk and Gino Wong.
The #LoveYouTu campaign also returns with on ground activities organised specially for loyal fans of 8TV who have been stuck at home for over two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It begins in December with a tour of the CNY Truck to strategic locations across Malaysia, where the variety programmes CNY Fun Together will conduct a series of special recordings in conjunction with the CNY 2023 campaign.
The group of CNY Buddies 2023 will be heading to Ipoh, Perak and Melaka in January to spread the joy with locals.
The CNY 2023 album features two songs, namely Huo Li Man Fen Love You Tu and Reunion Dinner 2023.
Fans can take part in the #LoveYouTu Dance Challenge on Instagram.
Just record a dance routine utilising 15 seconds from the chorus section of the songs and upload it on IG to stand a chance to win cool mystery gifts.
The public can also participate in the Kinohimitsu X 8TV CNY Reunion Dinner Contest.
Ten lucky winners who share the most memorable Reunion dinner moment on social media will be chosen.
The #LoveYouTu campaign will run from December until CNY 2023.
