KUALA LUMPUR: Legendary Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen is in town to promote his latest film, the epic action adventure Sakra.
"I love Malaysians. They have always been warm and supportive," said Yen during a Press Conference at St Regis Hotel, here today.
The popular 59-year-old artiste, who also directed and produced the movie said that he was very proud of his latest work.
"It's a very refreshing take on the wuxia movies that people are used to. I hope people will come out and watch this with their friends and families," he said.
Sakra is adapted from the wuxia novel Demi-Gods And Semi-Devils written by Jin Yong.
The film also stars Chen Yuqi, Cya Liu, Kara Wai, Wu Yue and Cheung Siu Fai.
In it he plays Qiao Feng the courageous leader of the beggar clan who is wronged and accused as a traitor.
"It was a big challenge to make. As an artiste I always try to push myself to do better.
"Many people know me as an action star but I actually prefer to be behind the camera.
"With this, I hope to do justice to those readers who are familiar with the well-known novel but also that everyone can enjoy and understand, especially movie fans," he said.
