#Showbiz: 'Polis Evo 3' collects RM25 million beating its predecessor

KUALA LUMPUR: Action comedy Polis Evo 3 is growing from strength to strength at the box office, with its latest collection at RM25 million.

This means that the joint production of Astro Shaw, Skop Productions and TGV Cinemas has surpassed the box office collection of Polis Evo 2, which had RM23 million in 44 days.

Previously, Polis Evo (2015) was the first local film to exceed box office earnings of RM18 million.

Polis Evo 3 executive producer Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said in a statement yesterday that the box office collection of Polis Evo 3 had broken the overall collection record of Polis Evo 2 within a week.

"This positive momentum demonstrates a promising performance for the film. We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who has watched Polis Evo 3 in cinemas."

She added: "Actor Sharnaaz Ahmad in particular has captivated many with his solid performance as the enigmatic antagonist Reza."

Previously, Hushairi Husain won Best Supporting Actor at the 28th Malaysian Film Festival for his villainous character Izrail in Polis Evo, while Hasnul Rahmat, who took the role of Saif in Polis Evo 2, was awarded Best Supporting Actor at the 30th Malaysian Film Festival.

The stars of Polis Evo 3 will be visiting Kedah, Penang and Perak from June 3 to 5, and Singapore, Johor and Melaka from June 8 to 11.

They will also visit Sarawak and Sabah from June 14 to 18.

Directed by Syafiq Yusof, the film features Zizan Razak, Shaheizy Sam, Sharnaaz Ahmad, Nora Danish, Syafiq Kyle, Farali Khan, Douglas Lim, Fauzi Nawawi, Fezrul Khan and Eyka Farhana.

Polis Evo 3 revolves around Inspectors Khai and Sani, who return with a new mission.

This time, they must thwart Reza, a former police officer who has gone rogue.

The friendship is tested when they discover that Reza has a connection to Khai's past.
