KUALA LUMPUR: A video of actor Datuk Aaron Aziz posing with lead star Chris Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave of the upcoming Netflix action extravaganza Extraction 2 at the movie's premiere in Manila, Philippines, has garnered the attention of netizens.
"Alhamdulillah for the opportunity to be in Manila. Allah (God) knows best," said Aaron in the video he shared on his Instagram account.
The Singapore-born artist is a household name in Malaysia, having acted in various local TV series and movies.
In the video, Aaron was also seen shaking hands with Hemsworth and Hargrave on the stage during the premiere.
Aaron and fellow Malaysian actor Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin also made an appearance on the red carpet alongside other famous action stars from Asia, including the Philippines' Derek Ramsey and Thailand's Ananda Everingham and Nawat Kulrattanarak, as invited guests to the Netflix event.
Netizens flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages and praises for his achievement.
"Congratulation bro," user haandrie7170 wrote.
"Great opportunity for you both. Malaysia represents," said user nadnisaa.
"Naur (a slang for no), this can't be real," said user nurmrza, shocked by the news.
However, Aaron's reasons for appearing on the stage during the premiere was not mentioned in his posting, which had triggered speculations among movie fans, who mistakenly believed that he was in the movie.
"Wow, he is acting alongside Thor (Chris Hemsworth)? This is crazily amazing," said user nazuinnh.
"I will definitely watch this movie later. Our artist is acting in a Hollywood movie," said user soffiyaid in the comment section.
The video garnered more than 60,000 likes and counting.
Hemsworth and Hargrave were in Manila for the first time to promote the sequel to the successful 2020 movie.
Extraction 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on June 16.
