Compelling play on affected lives in war-torn Kabul

KUALA LUMPUR: A new play that tackles human rights, child protection, education, migration and refugee issues, titled Red Soil of Kabul, will be staged at DPAC in Petaling Jaya from Aug 11 to 13.

Presented by Parastoo Theatre, the play is a multi-layered story from Kabul after the fall of government in Afghanistan.

Based on real events and experiences, it narrates the beginning of a disaster that led to a crisis for millions of people.

This compelling story of children in war, resilience and hope will be performed entirely by refugees living on Malaysian soil.

Red Soil of Kabul is written and directed by Saleh Sepas, whose previous plays include And Then Came Spring – a collaboration with Instant Café Theatre, The Roof That Collapsed, End of Each Month, I Will Smile Again, Overcoming Hardship, Screaming-in-Silence, and The Bitter Taste of History.

The play will feature the Persian language with English subtitles on screen.

Tickets to the 90-minute show with no intermission are priced from RM35 to RM150.

Audiences are welcome to participate in conversations with the writer/director and cast after every show.
