#Showbiz: Siti worried for 'foster children' in Gaza amid ongoing violence

KUALA LUMPUR: Pop queen Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza is deeply worried about the safety of the students at Gaza's Afwa Al-Afiyah School following the latest outbreak of violence in Palestine.

In an Instagram post yesterday, Siti said the 50-odd students of the school were like her "foster children", and she was praying hard for their safety.

"I'm constantly monitoring the tense situation there. May the children all be safe from harm. There is nothing much I can do for now except for praying hard for their safety," she said.

Siti also urged Malaysians to help the people of Gaza by donating to her Nurjiwa Foundation, which has since 2021 managed the Palestine Special Assistance Fund.

The latest violence in Gaza erupted last Saturday and claimed the lives of more than 700 Palestinians.

The foundation established Afwa Al-Afiyah School in October 2021.

In May, Siti organised the Satu Suara Volume 3 Concert at Mega Star Arena, Jalan Sultan Ismail, to raise funds for the students in the said school.
