#Showbiz: Sharing family problems led to my arrest, says Aliff Aziz

KUALA LUMPUR: Singaporean singer and actor Aliff Aziz has blamed himself for sharing his family problems with others.

He said that doing so with his television drama co-star and friend Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas led to their intimacy and eventual arrest for khalwat at her condominium last March 8.

Aliff said in an interview with podcast The Common Folks on their YouTube channel yesterday that he should not have done so, as it brought him "way too close" to his co-star.

"I am not a person who likes to share his problems with others and neither did Ruhainies approach me to ask about my problems. But I was not acting my best during the filming of our drama and this perhaps worried the cast and crew including Ruhainies who began to ask me what was wrong," said Aliff.

"It was here that I started to spill it all out, and as a result we become closer on the set.

"It was all my mistake. As a man I should have faced my problems by myself."

Aliff strongly denied that his wife Bella Astillah "set a trap" for him and Ruhainies when they were nabbed for khalwat by the Federal Territories Religious Department (Jawi) enforcement officers.

"It's not right to blame Bella. I can only blame myself for what happened that day," said Aliff.

Bella filed for divorce at the Federal Territories Syariah Court in Jalan Duta here on March 13.

Aliff refused to divorce Bella when the case was mentioned on April 4.

The case will resume on June 4.
