PUTRAJAYA: The Best Podcast is the newest addition to television awards show Anugerah Seri Angkasa (ASA) 2024.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching announced today that the new award category was specially for content creators to come up with high-quality podcasts,
"With this new media award category, podcast creators will be encouraged to come up with content of high quality," said Teo at a press conference to announce ASA 2024 at the ministry here.
Teo said that ASA 2024's newest award could spur filmmakers and podcasters to continuously create world class content.
"ASA 2024 recognises the best of local talents and encourages excellence in television broadcasting," she said.
The ministry's Content Development Division secretary and ASA 2024 nomination committee chairman Norhadznita Mohammad Ilham said that all nominations for the annual awards show had to be submitted by licensed broadcasting organisations.
"Podcasts must have licensed broadcasters, as announced by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission," said Norhadznita.
Nominations for ASA 2024 will be from July 1 to 15.
ASA has been held 35 times since 1972 to recognise outstanding producers, talents and behind-the-scenes workers in the broadcasting industry.
ASA 2024 with the theme Kilauan Prestij, Citra Kegemilangan has 40 television award categories, 16 radio categories and four new media categories.
There is also the Special Jury Award and Tokoh Seri Angkasa Award for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to television.
Nominations are for productions broadcast between Jan 1, 2022 and Dec 31, 2023.
