#SHOWBIZ: Finas' new terms for filming cert applicants

The National Film Development Corporation (Finas) has announced three new requirements for local production companies that wish to apply for a Filming Certificate.

In a recent statement, Finas said applicants are required to present a Standard Contract, show proof of Socso or Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) contributions, and obtain a Public Entertainment Licence for Children and Young People.

"The official Standard Contract involves the production company that is applying for the SPP and the person/party that provides its services to the company.

"Secondly, all workers — the crew and cast — of a production are recommended to contribute to Socso or EPF.

"The third requirement is a Public Entertainment Licence for Children and Young People for companies that want to use the services of production personnel/crew/child actors/young people in accordance with the Children and Young Persons (Employment) Act 1966," the statement said.

Finas added that the initiative is to protect the interests of production companies, their crew and cast, as well as the children and youngsters involved in the industry.
