#SHOWBIZ: Snoop Dogg paid RM2.2 million a day at Paris Olympics

KUALA LUMPUR: American hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg has been one of the stars of the recent Olympics despite not being a competitor.

Yahoo Sport reported yesterday that he received US$500,000 (RM2.2 million) a day for being American television network NBC's correspondent in the Paris Olympics.

This means that the singer whose real name is Calvin Broadus received US$8 million (RM36 million) for the entire 16 days of the Olympics.

In fact, NBC also provided him with emergency expenses too.

NBC has been the United States' exclusive Olympics broadcaster since 1988.

Snoop Dogg's pay was revealed on X by American journalist Henry McNamara recently.

In Paris, Snoop Dogg carried the Olympic torch, swam with swimming legend Michael Phelps, attended a US women's soccer game with Megan Rapinoe, danced with gold medal-winning gymnast Simone Biles and cheered on swimmer Caeleb Dressel alongside the athlete's wife and son.

Snoop Dogg has sold over 23 million albums in the United States, and 35 million albums worldwide.

His accolades include an American Music Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and 17 Grammy Award nominations.
