#SHOWBIZ: MPO to stage 1st benefit concert on Nov 9

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will organise its first-ever benefit concert via its talent development programme to assist bright young Malaysians next month.

Titled 'MPO Benefit Concert: Resonance For A Reason', the event is set to take place at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, here on Nov 9, according to a recent press statement.

A host of Malaysian music luminaries, such as Datuk M Nasir, Datuk Sheila Majid, Misha Omar, Aina Abdul, and Amir Jahari, will be featured in the upcoming concert.

The distinguished artistes will accompany the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, led by Ahmad Muriz Che Rose.

The inaugural special concert is set to be a meaningful evening of music, philanthropy and nation-building.

As the country's beacon of music excellence, the MPO is more than just an orchestra and plays more than just music.

It serves a role in developing new talents towards shaping a brighter future in music for Malaysia through the expertise and transfer of knowledge by its dedicated musicians.

It also aims to nurture music appreciation among Malaysian youth and promote classical and local music to audiences from all walks of life.

Through this benefit concert, the MPO hopes to raise awareness towards its talent development programme and its role in supporting local talents, providing continuous mentorship and guidance.

The concert also calls for support towards the sustainability of the development programme which is hoped to unite, inspire and transform the landscape of the arts through the power of great music as a catalyst for cultural enrichment.
