KUALA LUMPUR: The government has allocated RM50 million to promote national art, culture, language and literature.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, through the presentation of the 2025 Budget, said that a total of RM50 million had been allocated to Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) to work with language activists to empower local art and culture activities, especially among the younger generation.
"I've always emphasised in The Asia Renaissance that economic development should go hand in hand with the development of culture and values.
"The treasures of language and literature must continue to be preserved so that they will be lasting and never fade away.
"In order to raise the level of language and literature, the government has provided RM50 million for DFP to work with language activists to intensify language and literature activities, especially among the younger generation.
"This also includes translating masterpieces, organising theater productions and preserving the language of minorities such as the Siamese ethnic group," he said.
