#SHOWBIZ: 'Stranger Things' fans can own part of Will Byers' house

One of the stranger real estate announcements: hardcore fans of "Stranger Things" could well become owners of one of the series' most iconic homes.

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to buy the real house used in the Netflix program, located in Atlanta. Take out your checkbooks!

As "Stranger Things" draws to a close with its fifth and final season scheduled for 2025, fans of the series may be able to continue the adventure by investing in Joyce, Jonathan and Will Byers' property.

The residence is currently up for sale on the participatory funding platform Arrived. The property is available for the modest sum of $1.175 million.

At the time of writing, close to $293,000, or 23% of the total, had been raised thanks to 2928 investors, leaving $942,350 remaining to be collected.

The crowdfunding campaign allows investors to contribute up to $100 to acquire shares in the property.

"The property's exterior was used to film all of the scenes set at the Byers' home and influenced the design of the interior sets," notes the listing on Airbnb.

The house, located in Fayetteville, Georgia, is a veritable time capsule from the 1980s, featuring all the decor from the TV show, right down to the iconic Christmas lights.

With a surface area of over 170 sq m, it includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all on a plot of over two hectares. According to Redfin, a real estate brokerage firm, the house was last sold on November 10, 2022 for $400,000.

Investors will also be able to benefit from the income generated by renting out the house on Airbnb, available for up to six people, at a rate of 324 euros per night on weekdays up to 693 euros per night at weekends.

According to the new Airbnb listing, the house "is not affiliated with Netflix," but promises to "honor the spirit of the series."

The home, built in 1900, has been meticulously decorated by fans and professionals to recreate the authentic atmosphere of the series. Guests will enjoy an immersive experience, with a mix of retro and modern technologies, the announcement states.

"Stranger Things," created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, starring Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown, has been a phenomenal success since it first aired on Netflix on July 15, 2016.

Right now, fans can dive into The Upside Down with the original stage play "Stranger Things: The First Shadow," playing at the Phoenix Theatre until 2025 in London.

Set in 1959, the production follows the Creel family as they arrive in the town of Hawkins, Indiana, prior to the events of the young gang.
