KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Farid Kamil has turned to seeking forgiveness (istighfar) as therapy to cope with his longing for his wife, Diana Danielle, and their two children, Muhammad and Nur Aurora.
Farid admitted that longing for his family often overwhelms him, but prayer and self-improvement remain his focus.
"I deeply miss the 'scent' of family—the memories with my wife and children.
"Perhaps even a vacation together. Every time I feel homesick, I increase my istighfar. When I do, God willing, my heart feels calm in any situation," he told Harian Metro.
He emphasised that prayer is his primary tool in dealing with his current struggles.
"There are no weapons, materials, or colours that can express my wishes better than prayer.
I never stop praying that my family will one day find happiness again, God willing," he said.
In his relationship with Diana, he admitted things remain unchanged, and they have not reconciled. "Honestly, my relationship with my wife and children is the same as before.
"I'm working on improving myself and facing problems calmly.
"Although it's challenging, I continue to pray for positive outcomes and hope to meet my wife again soon."
He revealed that the last time he saw his son was last year, though they maintained contact via phone.
"It's not that I can't see him, there are no obstacles. But for now, I have to walk this journey alone," he said.
The couple's marital issues resurfaced when Diana announced her intention to file for divorce on Oct 28 last year, after a year of reconciliation.
However, Farid sought to save the marriage, leading to extended proceedings at the Federal Territory Syariah Lower Court.
