KUALA LUMPUR: Sneaker Street opened its doors to shoppers in Central i-City Shah Alam with a line of affordable footwear from well-known brands recently.
Among the brands in the store include Vans, ASICS Tiger, New Balance, Adidas, Puma and Nike.
Sneaker Street is a subsidiary concept store established by Malaysia’s Largest Sports Retailer company, Al-Ikhsan Sports Sdn Bhd.
Present during the event were Al-Ikhsan chief executive officer Vach Pillutla and Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) group chief executive officer Peter Schiesser.
Pillutla said with its tagline ‘Your Affordable Sneaker Destination’, Sneaker Street aimed to cater to mid-tier consumers who were excited to look for trendy yet affordable sneakers.
He said Al-Ikhsan was synonymous with affordable sports products among Malaysians.
“By having a new lifestyle concept store, we target to provide the best everyday footwear, as well as other lifestyle accessories. We want to be the lifestyle destination for all,”
During the store launch, 19 winners of the “Score Big with MyDebit” contest received their prizes. The contest was held in collaboration with MyDebit which is operated by PayNet.
Pillutla said the company was always looking out for opportunities to collaborate with other companies for better engagement with the consumers.
“This contest was an initiative for us to show our appreciation towards the consumers by giving out massive prizes, as well as encourage them to spend wisely using MyDebit card,” he said.
MyDebit is Malaysia’s national domestic debit card scheme which facilitates point of sale (POS) payments using ATM cards issued by banks in Malaysia. About 200,000 merchant outlets in Malaysia are currently accepting MyDebit payments.
The contest ran between November last year and February this year for Al-Ikhsan shoppers who made payments via MyDebit ATM cards.
Among the attractive prizes included a full-paid trip to Disneyland, Smart television, PS4Pro, iPhone XS and Adidas boots.
Meanwhile, Schiesser said with about 42.6 million ATM cards in circulation, virtually every customer who walks into Al-Ikhsan outlets carries an ATM card which they can use to pay for their purchases.
“MyDebit contactless features provides the most convenient and efficient way of making payments at merchant outlets. All you need to do is just wave the card at the machine,” he said.
