KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (RTD) has released its latest list of product recalls from several major car and motorcycle brands, involving various safety and technical concerns.
On its official Facebook, RTD said the recalls affect models from Toyota and Mercedes-Benz, as well as motorcycle manufacturers Honda and Suzuki.
"The manufacturers will contact the respective vehicle owners to schedule an appointment and bring the vehicles in for inspection and to complete the recall activity being carried out," it said.
Through the list, RTD said the affected Toyota vehicles include Toyota Vios (produced from March 2023 to January 2024), involving 24,345 units.
Meanwhile, affected Mercedes-Benz vehicles are A 200, A 250, A 250 4Matic, AMG A 45 S 4Matic and AMG A 45 S 4Matic models (produced from 2017 to 2024) and various other models totalling over 10,000 units.
The full list of the affected vehicles is available on JPJ's official Facebook page.
For motorcycles, the recalled models include 2,022 units from Honda CBR250RR and CBR250S3A bikes while Suzuki includes V-Strom 800 DE (produced by 2023) and Burgman Street EX (produced by 2024).
Both Suzuki models involve 220 and 125 units respectively.
According to RTD, product recall is crucial to prevent accidents caused by defects in the vehicle's structure or equipment.
The authorities said vehicle safety is also important to ensure the driver's safety and comfort during travel.
"Owners certainly do not want to drive a vehicle with technical issues that could be hazardous and life-threatening. The manufacturer will carry out the repairs at no cost to the owners.
"Cooperation between vehicle owners and the manufacturer is expected to facilitate the recall process so that the recall activity can be completed within a short period," it added.
