KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has urged all parties to stop making racist provocation to avoid racial tension in the country.
Touching on the recent Red Shirt rally, during which racist remarks were allegedly uttered by participants, Khairy said:
“If anyone is found to have violated the law, action should be taken...but let police investigate the matter.”
He was speaking after launching the National Sports Day Sale at Mid Valley Megamall here.
A total of 12 retailers including Adidas, Al Ikhsan, Asics, Reebok and RSH with about 300 outlets nationwide will be participating in the sale which ends on Oct 18.
Khairy said the inaugural National Sports Day on Oct 10 was aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle among citizens by encouraging them to take up sports with about 9,500 activities nationwide.
He said the sale, which was initiated with the cooperation of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, will enable the public to get the best deals for sports goods and attire.
