MH136 discontinues take-off as another flight obstructs path

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines flight was forced to abort its take-off after Adelaide air traffic controllers determined that another plane, coming in to land, was heading straight for it.

Floght MH136 was preparing for take-off en-route to Kuala Lumpur from Adelaide, Australia.

The incident took place at Adelaide Airport, South Australia.

A statement from MAS today said the plane was instructed to discontinue its take-off due to an inbound flight on its path.

“MH136 was ready to depart Adelaide Airport and already on takeoff roll when it was instructed by Adelaide Air Traffic Control to discontinue its take-off as the inbound aircraft discontinued its landing and was infringing the vicinity of the take-off path.

“Upon receiving the instruction, MH136 stopped safely,” the statement read.

All 167 passengers and crew onboard were unhurt.

MH136 eventually departed Adelaide at 8.56AM and arrived Kuala Lumpur at 3.15 today.
