INCHEON: Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Haziq Kamaruddin and Atiq Bazil Bakri achieved a historic first Asian Games archery medal for Malaysia with silver in the men's recurve team event today.
Although Malaysia lost 6-0 to China in the final, the trio performed admirably to reach the gold medal match in a sport the country had not won a medal before.
''We don't know about the history part as our target was only to make semi-finals,'' said Khairul, who at 23 is the most senior member of the team.
''We are happy to get a medal and we also wanted gold but China were just better on the day.''
