Prestariang in education tie-up with Tekla

CYBERJAYA: Prestariang Bhd yesterday inked a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Tekla (SEA) Pte Ltd, making it the latter’s official corporate education partner for Malaysia.

Tekla is one of the leading global providers of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to the engineering and construction markets.

Prestariang group chief executive officer Abu Hasan Ismail said Prestaring is Tekla’s first corporate education partner in its foray into the Malaysian education industry.

“As the software and information technology industry continues to move rapidly into the next millennium, so do the construction and engineering industries. Tekla Structures is one of the leading BIM software solutions for the market, which provides an accurate, dynamic and 3D data-rich environment that can be shared by contractors, structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators as well as concrete detailers and manufacturers.

“We believe this will greatly benefit our market in civil and structural engineering education and development of local talent for the global market through our globally benchmarked certification courses,” said Abu Hasan.

Under the MoA, Prestariang will be the exclusive education partner to all institutions of higher learning, including universities, polytechnics and community colleges in Malaysia. The MoA also identified Prestariang as Tekla’s authorised local training centre.

Tekla has selected Prestariang due to its position as a major player in information and communications technology training and certification and its strong track record in the education and government segment.

To date, Prestariang has trained and certified more than 200,000 individuals, as well as distributed and managed more than five million software licences since its inception in 2003.

“We believe that this joint endeavour will prove fruitful, especially for civil and structural engineering students nationwide, as we provide effortless access to our software and encourage its integration into the curriculum to expand students’ knowledge and skills,” said Tekla director of education and key accounts Michael Evans.
