Major facelift for BB Plaza

KUALA LUMPUR: UDA Holdings Bhd will launch a major makeover of Bukit Bintang Plaza (BB Plaza) to put it on par with its more “modern” peers such as The Pavilion and Lot 10.

UDA said yesterday it had roped in

Tradewinds Corp Bhd unit, Tradewinds International Sdn Bhd, to undertake the BB Plaza redevelopment so as to “stay in line with urban development and economy”.

Sources said construction work should start in January and completed in 48 months, adding that the makeover would result in a RM3 billion gross development value.

“The area surrounding BB Plaza is undergoing a landscape transformation into an ultra-modern shopping hub. BB Plaza has to keep up with the Joneses as well as be in tandem with the Economic Transformation Programme, which aims to position Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley as the country’s main economic generators,” said the government-linked company.

UDA said its partnership with Tradewinds encompassed the construction of a commercial area, serviced apartments and a shopping centre.

“This refurbishment will open up more business opportunities,” it added.
