Firemen still searching for drowned teenager

KUALA LUMPUR: The fire and rescue department are still in the midst of finding a 13-year-old teenager who was believed to be drown near Jalan Cheras, here, yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department chief of the operations centre Samsol Maarif Saibani said the department received a distress call at 7.48pm Tuesday.

“Five firemen were immediately deployed to the scene to search for the victim but the mission had to be called off by 12am,” he said.

Samsol said the search and rescue team comprised of firemen, 13 scuba divers, Civil Defence Department and members of the public continued their search at about 8am today.

“They had started their search at the area where the boy was believed to have fall near LRT Maluri, Jalan Cheras and up until now, the team has yet to find the victim’s body,” said Samsol.
